5 Tips To Transition Back To Corporate America

I know things can get all chaotic at times; especially when you have gotten accustomed to being a full time Mompreneur. Well, that is the story of my life and where I love love to be home with my babies, At this point in my life, I’m needing to return back to corporate america.  Like so many of you, your stomach knot up thinking about all the different changes that is about to occur because of it.  Today, I want to share with you some of the practical tips that I’m putting into place right now to make my transition a little smoother.

5 Tips to transition back to Corporate America Smoothly

  1. Make a plan of action.  Don’t just sit back and wait for things to happen. Get busy with putting things in order so you won’t drive yourself crazy with the new transition.
  2. Have a cushion of savings for your regular bills.  At least have three to six months in savings for emergencies.  Usually when starting back to work, it’s takes a little while for your benefits to kick in; so while they are getting that together, in case of a mishap with one of the kiddos or your spouse or self, you have some cash for that.
  3. Hire a virtual assistant. For those of you who are mompreneurs, it would be wise to start now looking for someone to handle your administrative tasks(social media management, customer service, etc.) Just because you are away, don’t mean you have to let your business and brand go down the drain.
  4. Hire a nanny or babysitter.  If you have young ones like myself, establish who will be home to get the kids from the bus stop and watch them while you are at work.
  5. Communicate with your spouse. Talk it over with your husband to make sure you two are on the same page. Now that you are back in corporate america, who will pay what bill or will it remain the same. How will you handle household chores, and when will date night be.

3 Tips To Have a Healthy Marriage

In today’s society, everybody wants the happy fairy tale marriage but nobody wants to do the work. Being married and having a great spouse is a beautiful thing but it is more about the marriage instead of the wedding. I want to share with you three simple principle that you can begin to implement within your own marriage to have a better and more prosperous marriage with your spouse.

See people don’t tell you that ugly stuff that goes on in the marriage. People try to sugarcoat and put up these mask about the glamorous in the glitz of marriage. But marriage is hard work; you have to work at this thing like a daily 9-to-5 job. I always say if you want to be selfish remain single because marriage is not for the weak it hard.

3 simple tips to have a healthy marriage

1. Communicate with each other: communication is such a huge part in being in a relationship because without it the relationship can begin to deteriorate. Each day is a new day and it brings about its own challenges but when you take the time out to listen to each other it helps lighten the load.

2. Be honest: Its nothing like being able to open your heart and have that next person to really be open and honest to sharing how they are feeling and just sharing how that every day life is going. It takes nothing to build trust but it can only take one little mistake to break trust; and when the trust is broken it can take years, sometimes you’ll never be able to get back that trust that you once had but if you are willing it can be done, but again hear me when I say it is a lot of work. So practice on a daily basis just being honest.

3. Pray together: your marriage is as strong as your prayer life. On a daily basis you guys should commit to a specific time to pray not only together but pray for each other out loud.

My prayer for you is that you guys have an amazing marriage and keep working on it day in and day out. It is possible to have a healthy and happy marriage. I hope that you will share this with your friends and family so that we can spread the word together about having healthy marriages and healthy families. What to do When Life Happens

I can’t begin to tell you how I feel right now; All I can say is God is up to something really huge. I want to encourage those of you who are currently going through something or just walking out of something to keep pushing and know that God has your back. Over these last few years, my life has be turned upside down and I couldn’t run from it or ask God to remove it from my life.  I had to put my big girl panties on and follow course with what God was leading me to do.

3 tips that you can do to remain calm when life happens:

  1. Go through it. Yes, I know it’s easier said then done; but if you don’t allow yourself time needed to go through your situation; You might just find yourself repeating those same things in your life again.
  1. Increase your prayer life. I always say stay prayed up so when life happens it won’t catch you off guard.  I find myself praying all in my car up and down the highways and in the tub.  I want to encourage you to talk to God on a daily and regular basis.
  1. Eliminate all distractions. Yes, turn off the notifications on your phone, get off social media and let go of people and things that are no longer serving you purpose. I took a year long break from everything last year while life was happening to me. I needed my mind to be clear and free from the opinions of others.

Now, I’m not saying that it will be a walk in the park, but what I am saying is that if you hold tightly to God’s hand, your journey won’t be as hard.  He will guide you through your transitions of life.  If you know someone who could use some encouragement, please share this with your friends and family!

3 Things to do with your kids during the summer

During the summer months, the kiddos are home and full of energy.  As I’ve been experiencing these last few weeks, my babies can eat! I’ve already been grocery shopping three times since school has been out.  But, you have to not get so worked up about it because they will eat, but always remain flexible for new ways to get them out the house. I want to share with you three fun things that I do with my babies during the summer.

3 Ways to Enjoy Your Kids During The Summer

  1. Enroll them in a Reading summer program. Yes check your local newspaper to see which areas are having the program.  I even took it a few steps forward and I created this fun way to help my babies to read better.  I told them who ever reads the most books by the end of June, will receive fifty dollars.  Imagine seeing those little faces when I told them that. So, twice per week, I take them to the library and check out books. I love it! I love hearing them read to me and write their two paragraph report about what they read.

Are you asking yourself where did the time go or when was the last time I did something for myself, grab our Free Self Care Cheat Sheet Here!

  1. Reward them for doing extra chores around the house.  I give them the opportunity to earn extra perks. For example, if they do more than their regular chores, they might get extra movie from the red box, or more time on their electronics.
  2. Take them to museums. Yes, I love learning new stuff and so do them. Every summer, I try to take them to a different museum. A few years back, I took them to the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis (The Lorraine Motel where Dr. King was killed). I love listening to them ask various questions. This year, I plan to take them to the Underground Railroad Museum.

These are just a few ways that I enjoy my kids during the summer months.  How about you, tell me some fun things that you do with your kids during the summer. Comment below.  If you enjoyed this post, please share this with your other mommy friends, and family.

3 Ways to Take Care of Yourself

5 Tips To Time Management

If you struggle with time management, perhaps it’s time to take a look at some tips. However, the truth is, there are no pre-set time management rules. What works for your friends, may not work for you, and that’s okay.  At the beginning of my entrepreneurship journey, managing my time and finding balance was a major problem for me.

Below I have created some of my top exercises to do while you work on your time management skills:

  1. Close your door and turn off the phone. If you have an important task at hand, it’s important that you avoid unnecessary interruptions. Sitting alone can certainly help you to clear your head. Also, if you have Internet access, resist the urge to go online to social media platforms, like Twitter, MySpace, or Facebook.

  1. Have a place for common items. When you get home, place items like your keys and wallet in the same place. The next time you go out, there will be no question where they’re located and you won’t waste precious time looking for them.

  1. Change your behavior. If you’ve identified a certain behavior that’s counterproductive to your time management, take steps to correct this behavior.

* For example, if you always take a long lunch, make it a point to set a timer so you can return to your duties on time.

  1. Minimize and organize your documents. Even though a lot of information is digital these days, it doesn’t mean you should keep every email, file, or document on your desktop.

* Delete what’s unnecessary, organize files in folders, and only keep documents that you’re actively using at your fingertips.

  1. Estimate your time. Whether you’re doing a work assignment or something fun, plan in advance how long you think it will take. As long as you remain aware of the time, you won’t suddenly lose a few hours without realizing it.
  1. Less planning, more action. How often do you find yourself thinking about what you have yet to do? Merely thinking about the future won’t get you anywhere.

* Strive to live in the “now” and take action to complete your tasks.

  1. Avoid procrastination. This is a difficult one for most people! When you keep putting something off that you need to accomplish, you tend to spend more time thinking about the fact that you have to do it when you could have already completed the task.

* Quit making excuses and work up the willpower to do the things you hate to do. Once you do it, you’ll strengthen your resolve and build momentum.

  1. Set goals. Setting goals is an important part of any plan. When you’re working, it’s far easier to track your progress and complete your task more efficiently if you have a specific goal to achieve.

  1. Reward yourself. Ensure you reward yourself for a job well done. A reward will motivate you to get through the tougher tasks and avoid procrastination.

* It’s important to have some fun in life!

  1. Take breaks. It’s important to be self-disciplined, but you don’t want to overdo it and burn out. Mental breaks will actually boost your productivity because your mind has a chance to reflect, rejuvenate, and repair itself subconsciously.

* Schedule frequent 10-minute breaks to clear your mind.

Final Advice

The most important thing to remember about time management is to find something that works for you personally. Start by paying attention to your habits and decisions so you can better identify when you feel tempted to waste time and procrastinate.  Just be sure to keep taking steps in the right direction and you’ll soon conquer the time wasters that have kept you from success for far too long!

Who Is LaTersa Blakely

I believe when you have a presence online, there can be various layers to who you are as a person. Well, I’ve gotten this question a lot in the past few weeks. Rightfully so, I’ve been gone a whole entire year. That’s a long time to be away from the social world and business industry. But, when life happens, you have to do what you have to do and take care of your personal well being and that is exactly what I did.  Nothing else mattered at the time except for my kids and my life.  See, I’ve share my space with you for over eight plus years, and doing my time away, I got really clear on who I was and who I was not.  I learned a whole lot of about my courage, strength and faith.

So, who is LaTersa Blakely, I’m a spoiled child of God (yep I’m his favorite)… I like to imagine myself always speaking to him and chatting with him while sitting on his lap; I’m a mother of two busy little people who I love more than life itself; I’m a big kid at heart, I like dancing in the rain, singing and being goofy; I’m a crafty gal and I love all things crafts. Actually, that is how I was introduced to the entrepreneurial world, as the “diaper cakes lady”; My first love/business was the LaTersa Diaper Cakes™.…. Behind the scenes, you will more than likely find me in or near the kitchen because I love cooking and experimenting with food. I love making people laugh with my silly and goofy personality.

I love encouraging and inspiring women to believe and value their worth and I love doing it via workshops, Live streaming, products and etc.  So, if you see me online or out and about, be sure to stop by and say hello. Have a great day and know that i’m cheering for your success and peace of mind. My advice to each of you reading this, is to never let anyone, life or your circumstances change you!

You are more than enough,

LaTersa

Believing In Yourself Is The New Sexy

Believing In Yourself Is The New SexyBelieving in oneself however, stems down from our childhood experiences. With lack of poor models or lack of encouragement from those we have learned to associate respect and trust on, it would be likely that our maturity would be marked by ambiguity of self image.

We know for a fact that parents only act according to what they deem appropriate or best for their children. However, doing the best don’t necessarily mean that they qualify to the universal standard of being the best. In fact, there are so many cases when their bests may have been a mediocre standard for others and in some cases, their best is no good at all. Nonetheless, they still perform them because they know nothing better.

No one could be blamed though. We were all brought up depending on the present means that were available at the moment of our growth. We are the products of the people, events and circumstances that were fated to fall as the exact pieces at the exact moment, at the exact place. The environment from which we have grown is sure to be the most perfect environment fit for our personal growth. Our reactions then to these events will determine how well we have understood and coped up with things.

If, however, you have become too comfortable in your comfort zone and could not muster enough will to improve your self confidence then be assured of an ordinary life, deprived of the real challenges and pleasures that everyone is entitled to.

If you need a boost of confidence and empowerment, grab our I Am Enough Video Series Now!

Improving self confidence is not that hard to achieve. Your journey would be swift depending on your willingness to drive yourself to the end phase and to discard all that you have been acquainted to do (comfort zones).

The only place from which we may start is within ourselves. For long, we fed ourselves with impressions coming from the people we are interacting with. For long, we have practiced comparing what we can and what we cannot do with other people. Enough with comparisons! There is nothing to compare. We were all built to fit a specific design that is different from anybody else.

I do hope this article will lead you to the path of better understanding how your current confidence was shaped and how by your willingness to change will lead you to discovering that you are worthy of an amazing life. If this article has helped you in any way, feel free to share this with your friends and family!
