Every since I can remember, I’ve always found ways to make extra cash. I love making money doing what I love. I’ve done just about anything my little brain could think of!

It all started back when I was a toddler, growing up with my late grandmother. She sold candies and all sorts of goodies. I would sell candy with her and count all the money at the end of the day to see how much my granny and I had made.

On every Saturday, my granny would gather me and my brothers to wash clothes outside in this huge foot tub. She would pay us each two dollars! Back then, that was a lot of money. As time went by and I got older, I would buy a lot of penny candy from my granny and take it to school and sell it to all my friends.

At such a young age, It made me feel good to make my own money. I would bribe my brothers to do their chores for $5. They hated doing dishes and cleaning up, so they paid me to do it.

Looking back on it, I’ve always had the entrepreneurial spirit of making my own money. By the time I got to junior high, I took making extra cash to a whole other level.

My classmates would pay me to type their essays and PowerPoint presentations or anything that they didn’t like doing. So, that brings me to the first thing I did to make extra cash.

10 Things I’ve Done To Make Extra Cash

Typing

I would get paid to type church program bulletins, student’s essays, or anything that needed to be typed. Even some of my teachers would pay me to type personal things for them. I would bring home in one month, an extra two hundred bucks. (not bad for a teenager ha)

If you are obsessed with words like I am, then you might want to consider starting your own proofreading business. Here is a great resource to get you started in the right direction.

Baked Cakes

I love cooking and back then, I loved cooking cakes; I would cook cakes for any occasion that I could think of; so the people in my neighborhood found out about it and I would get paid $10 for each cake I baked. My mother started me cooking at the tender age of five.

Every Sunday, I would have to learn a new dish and cook it. I had a little handmade cookbook that I carried around with my mother’s recipes in it. Now, take it a few years later, and every guy that I dated, even my ex-husband, I would bake them their favorite cakes and put a little design on it. That was an extra $50 per month. Turn your passion into a profit with this.

Cleaned houses

When my kids were younger, I would clean houses on the side to make an extra $200-$500 per month by just working on the weekends. Hard work is nothing new to me because I’ve been working since I was old enough to stand up in a rocking chair.

Just a few years ago, when life happened, I found myself working as a hotel custodian where I was responsible for keeping the entire hotel clean. I got promoted to the front desk representative where I was also responsible for doing laundry.

Blogging

I’ve been blogging since 2009 and while I can’t tell you that I’ve made millions with my blog; I can tell you that I have made an extra $500 here and there.

I will say that, when I first started my blog, it was just as a hobby; but about five years into my mompreneurs journey, I began to take it seriously and started doing the work.

I will admit that lately, I’ve been working my butt off to make this one of my consistent source of income.

Sold Diaper Cakes

Way before I started my first business: The LaTersa Diaper Cakes, I was selling my diaper cakes, towel gift sets and other baby shower favors on eBay and Etsy. I’ve always had a love for crafts and I love and still love creating with my hands.

Selling diaper cakes was so fun for me! To see the look on the mom’s faces when they received their diaper cakes just made me feel like I had won the lottery. Years after being successful at turning this gift business into a six-figure one, I started teaching other moms how to start their own diaper cakes business

Once, I retired my diaper cakes business, I created a “How To Secure The Big Corporate Contracts” Course that teaches you the very steps that I took in order to get my diaper cakes in women’s hospital gift shops, grocery store floral shops and boutiques. If I can do it, so can you!

Selling Digital products

I created my very first informational product back in my diaper cakes days again.  I published my first ebook teaching moms how to balance work and family. I have been creating digital products for my audience every since.

Sometimes, I have to take a pause from creating so much. My biggest advice to you is to figure out who your targeted audience is before you create anything.

Hosting my own workshops

I have hosted several workshops in the past. If you have a talent that you can teach others, having your own workshops whether it’s online or in-person, you can make great money with hosting your own events.

STOP waiting on someone else to invite you to their table and just start having your own. If you don’t want to gather the overhead expenses with having a live event, host it online virtually.

Selling merchandise

I have been creating t-shirts for about five years, and I will say that physical items such as t-shirts and etc. will do really well once you establish your audience and build up your following. You can check out my merchandise here!

I really hope my side hustle ideas inspire you to believe that you can do anything you put your mind to. Anything is possible when you keep God first and work your butt off. If you enjoyed this post, please share this with your friends and family.
