How To Keep Yourself Business Oriented

For most home businesses, the computer and the Internet are an integral part of the success or failure of the business.

However, just like when you are at work, there’s always the temptation to check your email, talk to friends online, or play a game when you are not busy. However, just like at a job that you commute to, this should be something that should be avoided when you are working at your home based business. Stay tuned for a couple of ways to stay on track with your home-based business.

1) One way to help avoid doing this is to set up an account on your computer that is just for your home based business.

2) Set up an email that is just business, set up an instant messenger that is just business, and use the web browser to just do things that are part of the business.

The temptation is still there, of course, but if you start doing this right away you will find that it’s not so difficult.

The other reason that setting up an account that is separate for your business is good is because when you are doing things that are personal on the computer you will be less likely to work during your ‘off’ hours.

It is easy to open an online store just sell through the more trusted websites. Online shopping is becoming a mainstay of American commerce and more people are comfortable with making purchases from Internet stores. If you have something that you are passionate about selling, consider opening an online store. I will share with you a few tips on getting started.

 

1) Do some research online and check out your potential competition.If you have a business idea in mind, it is worth the time and effort to see what else is being sold in your category of products. If you have no idea what you want to sell, you’ll also want to head online to search out what would be most profitable to sell.

 

2) Choose your niche: When you make the selection of what you are going to sell, remember to think “niche.” A niche is a small category of products that meet the needs of a specific group of people. Your online store shouldn’t have a “Wal-mart” approach where there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Online commerce is all about small categories of interest. There are so many things to choose from, you have more success when you cater to a small and specific group of people.

  • The best place to start with finding a niche is thinking about your own interests. When you sell to a niche that you know well, you are more likely to know what products will be of interest to those people. You can sell to your clientele based on your own experience.



  • Many Wahms start an online store because they have homemade products to offer. One example is handmade baby clothes and cloth diapers. 5 Tips To Transition Back To Corporate America



I know things can get all chaotic at times; especially when you have gotten accustomed to being a full time Mompreneur. Well, that is the story of my life and where I love love to be home with my babies, At this point in my life, I’m needing to return back to corporate america.  Like so many of you, your stomach knot up thinking about all the different changes that is about to occur because of it.  Today, I want to share with you some of the practical tips that I’m putting into place right now to make my transition a little smoother.

5 Tips to transition back to Corporate America Smoothly

  1. Make a plan of action.  Don’t just sit back and wait for things to happen. Get busy with putting things in order so you won’t drive yourself crazy with the new transition.
  2. Have a cushion of savings for your regular bills.  At least have three to six months in savings for emergencies.  Usually when starting back to work, it’s takes a little while for your benefits to kick in; so while they are getting that together, in case of a mishap with one of the kiddos or your spouse or self, you have some cash for that.
  3. Hire a virtual assistant. For those of you who are mompreneurs, it would be wise to start now looking for someone to handle your administrative tasks(social media management, customer service, etc.) Just because you are away, don’t mean you have to let your business and brand go down the drain.
  4. Hire a nanny or babysitter.  If you have young ones like myself, establish who will be home to get the kids from the bus stop and watch them while you are at work.
  5. Communicate with your spouse. Talk it over with your husband to make sure you two are on the same page. Now that you are back in corporate america, who will pay what bill or will it remain the same. How will you handle household chores, and when will date night be.

What to do When Life Happens



I can’t begin to tell you how I feel right now; All I can say is God is up to something really huge. I want to encourage those of you who are currently going through something or just walking out of something to keep pushing and know that God has your back. Over these last few years, my life has be turned upside down and I couldn’t run from it or ask God to remove it from my life.  I had to put my big girl panties on and follow course with what God was leading me to do.

3 tips that you can do to remain calm when life happens:

  1. Go through it. Yes, I know it’s easier said then done; but if you don’t allow yourself time needed to go through your situation; You might just find yourself repeating those same things in your life again.
  1. Increase your prayer life. I always say stay prayed up so when life happens it won’t catch you off guard.  I find myself praying all in my car up and down the highways and in the tub.  I want to encourage you to talk to God on a daily and regular basis.
  1. Eliminate all distractions. Yes, turn off the notifications on your phone, get off social media and let go of people and things that are no longer serving you purpose. I took a year long break from everything last year while life was happening to me. I needed my mind to be clear and free from the opinions of others.

Now, I’m not saying that it will be a walk in the park, but what I am saying is that if you hold tightly to God’s hand, your journey won’t be as hard.  He will guide you through your transitions of life.  If you know someone who could use some encouragement, please share this with your friends and family!

3 Things to do with your kids during the summer



During the summer months, the kiddos are home and full of energy.  As I’ve been experiencing these last few weeks, my babies can eat! I’ve already been grocery shopping three times since school has been out.  But, you have to not get so worked up about it because they will eat, but always remain flexible for new ways to get them out the house. I want to share with you three fun things that I do with my babies during the summer.

3 Ways to Enjoy Your Kids During The Summer

  1. Enroll them in a Reading summer program. Yes check your local newspaper to see which areas are having the program.  I even took it a few steps forward and I created this fun way to help my babies to read better.  I told them who ever reads the most books by the end of June, will receive fifty dollars.  Imagine seeing those little faces when I told them that. So, twice per week, I take them to the library and check out books. I love it! I love hearing them read to me and write their two paragraph report about what they read.

  1. Reward them for doing extra chores around the house.  I give them the opportunity to earn extra perks. For example, if they do more than their regular chores, they might get extra movie from the red box, or more time on their electronics.
  2. Take them to museums. Yes, I love learning new stuff and so do them. Every summer, I try to take them to a different museum. A few years back, I took them to the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis (The Lorraine Motel where Dr. King was killed). I love listening to them ask various questions. This year, I plan to take them to the Underground Railroad Museum.
